Why Carrots Cost more than Twinkles

Have you ever wondered why simple vegetables, picked straight from the plant or dug from the dirt, are often higher priced than complicated, modified, or otherwise over-processed foods?

One of our Wellness Warrior go-to experts, Michael Pollan, explains this phenomenon, using the common carrot versus the over-tweaked Twinkie as examples:

“We have a set of agricultural policies that are making us sick” he explains in this short but informative video produced by Nourish Life, an educational initiative (with a great website) designed to open a meaningful conversation about food and sustainability, particularly in schools and communities.

This is a great, super-short clip to share with your friends who don’t yet “get it” when it comes to farming subsidies and their link to obesity.
