  • 2 whole trout (about 1 to 1.5 lbs each), cleaned
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (or ghee)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, dill, thyme)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Prepare the trout: Pat dry with paper towels, and season the inside and outside with salt and pepper.
  • Make the garlic butter: Mix melted butter, minced garlic, and paprika in a small bowl.
  • Fill the trout: Stuff the cavity of each trout with lemon slices and fresh herbs.
  • Coat with butter mix: Pour the garlic butter mix over the trout, making sure it’s well-coated.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes: The trout should be flaky, tender, and slightly crispy on the outside.
  • Garnish & serve: Add a sprinkle of chopped parsley, extra lemon wedges, and a few red pepper flakes if desired. Enjoy!
