Keto Cuban Picadillo Breakfast Hash

A low-carb twist on the classic Cuban picadillo, made with ground beef, bell peppers, olives, and cauliflower rice. Perfect keto diet breakfast ideas or easy Cuban recipes that pack big flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

  • 1 cup cauliflower rice (or diced zucchini)

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 1 bell pepper (red or green), chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)

  • 1/4 cup green olives, sliced

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.

  2. Add onions, garlic, and bell peppers. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in cumin, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  4. Add diced tomatoes and green olives. Let simmer for 10 minutes.

  5. Stir in cauliflower rice or zucchini. Cook another 5–7 minutes until veggies are tender.

  6. Serve hot, optionally topped with a fried egg or avocado slices.

Notes

  • Ground turkey works well for a leaner version, inspired by picadillo recipe cuban ground turkey.

  • For a crock pot picadillo version, combine all ingredients (except cauliflower rice) and cook on low for 4 hours; add cauliflower rice at the end.

  • You can add a pinch of cinnamon or a few raisins for a sweet touch, but keep it minimal for keto.
