A warm, spicy North African dish made with ground beef, eggs, and simple pantry spices. Perfect for the keto diet, easy to make in one pan, and full of bold flavor. Great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
500g ground beef (80/20 is best)
4 eggs
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground coriander
½ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Salt and black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil or ghee
Optional: chopped parsley or cilantro for garnish
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add chopped onion and cook until soft and slightly golden, about 4 minutes.
Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and break it apart while cooking. Let it brown fully.
Add cumin, paprika, coriander, and cayenne. Stir well so the meat is coated in the spices.
Make small wells in the beef and crack in the eggs.
Cook uncovered for softer eggs, or cover to steam until yolks are set to your liking.
Turn off heat and sprinkle fresh herbs on top if using.
For more heat, add chili flakes or harissa.
Keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Great with cauliflower rice or eaten on its own.
Can swap beef for lamb or chicken.
