Workout Principles of Jared Leto

Jared Leto maintains a very disciplined and healthy lifestyle.

He doesn’t want any of the drastic body transformations that he undergoes for his various roles to take their toll on his body, both physically and mentally.

So a top workout principle of his is to strike a balance between peace of mind and passion.

He compensates with lots of healthy habits.

These include doing intense training for five days a week and sticking to a very wholesome plant-based diet.

He also sees to it that he gets the right amount of sleep even though he has a very hectic schedule.

It’s this commitment and consistency that helped him get so fit and ripped for his role in Suicide Squad.

Jared Leo’s Training Methods

As we mentioned above, Jared works out five days a week.

His training methods will be split up into workouts, supersets, and multi-joint exercises.

His day will also be broken down into three segments. These are warming up, training, and core work. Each of these segments consists of 5-7 exercises.

For his warm-ups, he will include low-intensity cardio.

This will be followed by push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups.

His core work will cover a circuit of leg lifts, crunches, and V-ups.

His whole training method system is aimed at boosting his metabolism, increasing his overall strength, and building lean muscle mass.

Jared Leto’s Workout Routine

1) Yoga

Jared uses his post-workout hours practicing yoga poses.

These enhance his stability and flexibility. His yoga includes low-impact, gentle exercises to relieve any muscle tension and to keep the joints intact for good mobility.

Both his body and mind benefit from yoga.

2) Cardio

Jared dedicates around two days a week to doing cardiovascular exercises.

He also tries to do 10,000 steps daily. Other aerobic workouts include cycling for 10 miles.

He is also involved with exercises outdoors that work his muscles such as hiking, tennis, surfing, and rock climbing. These activities are usually after his high-intensity weight-training routine.

3) Weightlifting

Jared devotes around three days a week for high-intensity weight training – with the accent on bodybuilding.

That’s how he got so ripped to play Batman’s archenemy Joker in Suicide Squad and also Spiderman’s spin-off in Morbius.

4) Chest and triceps workout

This includes triceps pushdown, dumbbell press, overhead extensions, weighted dips, and skull crushers.

5) Shoulders and legs workout

This routine includes a few repetitions of heavy lifting which he will get from barbell squats, leg press, Arnold press, calf raises, and military press.

6) Back and biceps

He will do a combo of chin-ups, deadlifts, and bent-over rows. Here he is working out for Tron.

Jared Leto’s Diet Plan

Jared Leto has been a vegan already for over two decades.

His diet will therefore be one where he eats plenty of veggies and fruit and other delicious things to keep healthy and strong.

If he has been on this diet for two decades already, it must surely work. He looks the picture of health for it and younger than his years.

Jared’s daily diet looks like this:

Breakfast

  • Oatmeal with honey and fruit
  • Juice
  • Toast with avocado on (toast is whole-grain bread)

Snack

  • A vegan protein smoothie

Lunch

  • Tofu steak/OR stir-fried veggies
  • Salad
  • Rice

Evening Snack

  • A vegan protein smoothie

Dinner

  • Whole grain pasta, vegan chicken, or quinoa
  • Veggies
  • A small bowl of rice
  • Salad

That’s it!

He is very particular about when he eats his meals – timing is imperative for him.

The ingredients are also very particularly chosen – he understands fully the impact good nutrition has on his work, his workouts, his health, and his well-being.

He eats smaller, portion-sized meals every two hours

Eating smaller, portion-sized meals every two hours keeps Jared’s metabolism levels high. His trainer advised him to rather do this than have, say, three big meals each day.

This method improves the digestive process and keeps Jared fuller for longer.

Nutrients also get absorbed better, helping him to get through his intense workouts.

Being vegan for many years now, some of Jared’s staples will include nutritious foods such as kidney beans, lentils, and chickpeas, sweet potatoes, and avocados.

Fruits are delicious like strawberries and blueberries, and seeds will be flax, chia, and quinoa.

He eats brown rice and whole-grain wraps as well as coconut oil.

If he wants something sweet, he will have vegan hot chocolate with almond milk or buckwheat pancakes, or popcorn.

Getting the protein without the meat

Being on a plant-based diet does not mean you don’t get in enough protein.

Look at these plant-based sources of protein which are so delicious!

Some of Jared’s movies require him to undergo serious physical changes, such as losing weight or adding weight, or bulking up, etc.

That means his diet sometimes has to be high in protein. So he will resort to plant-based sources of proteins to achieve this. He will strictly stay away from junk food and refined sugar.

No illicit substances for Jared

Even though he did live on the streets among many drug addicts to get the feel for his new movie, Requiem For A Dream, where he played a heroin addict, he steers well away from illicit substances.

And even alcohol; he has not been near alcohol for many years.

One he did fall short when he was a teenager, abusing drugs and alcohol – but once he realized what the repercussions would be on his body, he stopped.

He is adamant about getting sleep and recovery time

Jared likes to strike a good balance between working hard, sleeping, and recovery time.

He knows the balance is vital for both physical and mental health.

He dedicates time to easy and light exercises after intense workouts which alleviate the soreness of his muscles and which keep muscle mobility intact.

He says that getting plenty of sleep for recovery is the main reason behind his amazing physical transformations.

Now we know just how Jared Leto keeps himself healthy, fit, and toned – it’s about hard work and plenty of healthy habits. He knows how to take care of himself and that includes grooming.

Jared Lento’s noteworthy recommendations

You can be forever young too

If you long to be a health icon; forever-young like Jared, and defy age as he does, here’s what you should be eating.

Green tea, not alcohol

“Alcohol isn’t one of them,” says Jared.

He says that if you travel a lot, it should be balanced with excellent sleep and diet.

Oatmeal, not bagels

Unless your bagels are whole grains, they should be ditched off your food list by the time you hit the 40s. Rather opt for oatmeal – it contains soluble fiber.

Salmon, not bacon

Processed meat lacks healthy nutrients and has ingredients that contribute to stroke and weight gain. Eating fatty fish reduces heart-related disease risks by 36%.

Sweet potatoes, not Doritos

If you love snacking, it’s time to forget the chips in favor of healthy sweet potato chips.

‘Being healthy is not a choice, it’s a lifestyle.’Jared Leto
