Written by Jane Summerfield

Ariana Grande is an American singing sensation; one of the biggest names in pop music.

She is Italian American, half Abruzzese, and half Sicilian.

She started her career already at age 15, winning a role in the Broadway play, 13. Soon she was getting parts in television shows.

She had already decided what she wanted to do, and she knew exactly how she would accomplish it.

She got her big break in 2010 when she got a role on the Nickelodeon TV series called Victorious.

There was a spin-off show called Sam & Cat and she starred in that too.

All along, she was perfecting her singing as well.

In 2011 she released a single of hers, Put Your Hearts Up.

Her debut album was called Yours Truly, released in 2013.

This album was number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Many compared her to Mariah Carey.

After this fantastic debut, Ariana shifted her focus to music and produced a second album called My Everything, which was released in 2014.

This album established her as a pop star.

From then on, she has just gone on from strength to strength.

When she is not performing, she also supports some charitable causes such as Kids Who Care.

She co-founded this group.

It raises money for charities in the South Florida region.

Ariana has a huge following on social media platforms like FacebookTwitterInstagram, and Snapchat, and has appeared on Time magazine’s list of “The 100 Most Influential People” in 2016.

Just recently, in fact, in May 2021, Ariana Grande made a big move in her life! She married her fiancé Dalton Gomez.

The two got engaged just before the Christmas holiday.

Congrats!

Workout Principles of Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has achieved huge on-stage success.

But it’s also her general commitment to health and fitness that makes her credentials even more impressive.

Many young people ask how this pop queen manages to stay in such good shape with such a hectic schedule being on tour.

She works out with a trainer, Harley Pasternak on her workout routines.

He has made her workout routine so good, she can take it with her on the road; it requires limited equipment.

Her workout principles are mainly based on high-intensity interval training. Ariana believes it is the most effective way to keep her body toned in a limited time.

She also focuses on a lot of leg and core workouts.

She avoids too many toning exercises for her shoulders and arms.

What it all boils down to is a simple combo of daily activity options and bodyweight resistance exercises.

Ariana Grande’s Training Methods

Ariana Grande certainly has set herself fitness and diet standards to meet her on-stage performances.

If you want to look like her and maintain the same fitness levels as she does, exercise certainly counts.

But if you don’t fix up any diet issues, these could be holding you back from achieving your dream.

Remember, at least 70% of weight management comes from lifestyle changes.

You could almost say it’s more what you eat – it’s not just about how you exercise. So trainer, Harley Pasternak, has Ariana focusing on the below exercises; one for every day.

Then the next day she will do the next exercise.

On one day she might do reverse lunges and then the next day she might do walking lunges.

Harley usually gives Ariana five sets of 30 reps of an exercise for each day.

If Ariana does need a quick workout, she loves focusing on bridges and lunges.

Check this quick workout here that she loves squeezing in when she doesn’t have a lot of time.

  • Walking lunges – 2 minutes
  • Glute bridges – 2 minutes
  • Repeat 3 times – and that’s it!

Ariana Grande’s Workout Routine

Looking at Ariana Grande’s body, one would imagine that she has a strict workout routine.

But in fact, her biggest workout priority isn’t hitting the gym to do her HIIT workouts and lifting sessions.

She aims at walking her 12,000 steps each and every day. She will probably do this while watching a TV show or conjuring up some new lyrics whilst on the treadmill.

Other activities she loves are playing with her dog and also going for hikes. If you do power walking, it’s doing low to moderate intensity cardio and this already puts the body in the fat-burning zone to burn more fat.

Ariana has her favorite workouts that she does at home. She doesn’t spend hours at the gym doing grueling workouts.

Actually, her workouts require very little equipment and require just a few minutes each day.

Traveling a lot, she needs safe and simple workouts to keep up her energy. She says, “I try and live a healthy lifestyle; eating right, exercise and sleep are all so important.”

Her trainer, Pasternak, told Women’s Health back in 2017 about Ariana’s two-move workout. Read here about someone who tried Ariana’s two-move workout!

This involves exercises that she can do from her hotel room or when she is on her way to her next venue.

Whilst heaps of trendy workouts today involve high-intensity interval training or lifting weights, Pasternak told SELF, “We’re not doing explosive movements, no heavyweights involved. We want to work her, and we want to do it in a safe way — this does it all.”

Ariana’s workout routine involves a variety of lunges – favorites of Pasternak’s.

It’s because they help to improve balance and boost core stability, as well as overall strength.

Her trainer is also a fan of pike planks.

You drop down into the plank position, looking down at your feet. As you do this, you lift your hips and contract your abs.

Then you fall back down to a flat position.

Ariana also loves glute bridges.

She tries to do as many reps as she can in 2 minutes.

They are ideal for hip mobility, and strength – also if you sit for long periods of time.

For Ariana, it is about balance.

Her trainer, too, says training is pretty useless if you’re not leading an overall healthy lifestyle.

“Your approach to health and fitness needs to start with movement and eating properly and better sleep. When you hit those out of the park consistently, then and only then should you consider the resistance [training] part.”

Ariana Grande’s Diet Plan

Did you know that Ariana Grande follows a vegan diet?

Ariane is petite, too, and naturally slim.

Before going animal product and meat-free, Ariana did still eat organic food. She limited the amount of meat she ate.

She chose vegan eating because she believes it is healthier for her.

The other reason is that she is an intense animal lover.

She believes that going vegan was also the right choice for her, morally.

She is aware that dining out can be challenging as a vegan, but she always sticks to the staples, fruit, veggies, and salad – sometimes eating something else when she gets home.

When she was little, she says she did eat a lot of cheese and meat.

Mostly she follows a macrobiotic diet.

This diet is not just about eating certain foods but ensuring that everything is in balance. Macrobiotic dieters will pay attention to their bodies.

And they try and maintain a positive outlook on life.

The main foods eaten on a macrobiotic diet are veggies, whole grains, and beans. People on macrobiotic diets eat more or less like this:

  • 40-60% of the diet is about whole grains, like brown rice, oats, barley, and corn.
  • 30% of the diet is eating vegetables.
  • 10% of the diet is eating beans and bean products like tofu, tempeh, miso, and sea vegetables like seaweed.
  • Fish is also allowed on the macrobiotic diet. But Ariana chooses not to eat fish.

Ariana adores Japanese food

She relishes meals like the sea vegetable hijiki, a radish called daikon, and protein-rich edamame beans.

She enjoys the vegan version of the Japanese pancake okonomiyaki.

All of these foods are packed with fiber and important minerals.

Let’s look at how Ariana eats in a day

Breakfast

She eats whole oats with almond milk.

She enjoys almonds and blueberries over the oats.

She also eats different smoothies and bowls of acai.

Her smoothies are made with bananas, strawberries, pears, and almond milk.

Lunch

One meal she enjoys is a salad with kale, avocado, cashews, and teriyaki sauce.

Dinner

For dinner, Ariana will eat a rice bowl, with whole grains, nori, and tofu. She also enjoys stir-fry veggies with tofu.

Favorite snacks

  • Bananas
  • Dragon fruit
  • Blueberries
  • Raw veggies
  • Baked sweet potato with cinnamon

Ariana also loves coffee and tea.

A go-to drink is also iced coffee with non-dairy milk in it. She also drinks dandelion and matcha tea.

As an advocate for healthy food eating, Ariana says –

“Food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole.

The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me.

We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry.”

Ariana Grande’s Supplements

  1. Plant Protein Powder – to support her recovery times.
  2. Vitamins And Minerals – for overall health and when on tour.

Ariana Grande’s noteworthy recommendations

Here’s how Ariana Grande balances her life and all the magic:

1) She manifests her dreams

Most new life gurus and life coaches, etc. will say how important it is to adopt a manifestation practice.

This is about visualizing the things you want and believe will come to you.

“When I was 6 years old, I just kind of decided that’s what I’m going to do with my life, period,” she says.

2) She stands her ground, when necessary

Ariana is a feminist – in other words, she doesn’t let anything or anyone stand in her way – but she does do it professionally though!

She urges people to be who they are, and not to be what’s expected from them.

3) She does her own thing, often ignoring the norms

Ariana says that just “Just because there is a historical record of how things were that doesn’t mean they have to keep on being that way.”

Ariana is the shining example of just that.

She had a dream of being a singer and putting out her music the way a rapper does.

4) She keeps her ego in check

While Ariana is confident, ensure that her ego doesn’t take over and take control.

This keeps her focused and in control; ready for each new stage of her career.

She will practice mental and gut checks to remain balanced and aligned.

5) She keeps an eye on her mental health

Ariana protects her mental health in each aspect of her life.

She knows how naysayers can easily impact on the sense of self, so she thinks carefully about whom to allow into her life – who shouldn’t be there and who should be.

“I just wanted to say hi and remind you guys to protect your peace and your energy and to not forget to take care of yourselves and protect your space.

I just want to make sure that you don’t run yourself to the ground, exhaust yourself and remember to protect your energy and do things that are good for you.”

“But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole-food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person.”

“When you feel your best, everybody else can feel it too”Ariana Grande
